Daoism Blog

During 2017 this blog will focus on the links between Daoism and healing through sharing in-depth interviews.

Longevity Acupuncture & Apothecary is located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. The mountains’ strength and wisdom provide a beautiful home for my practice, which promotes and nourishes a full life so that your body and spirit may feel light and free. The longevity philosophy of Chinese medicine is also symbolized by 9 mountaintops, each peak representing major themes we move through in our lifetime: health, wealth, abundance, relationship, creativity, travel, career, wisdom, and finally reaching a sense of peace and completion. My practice can support you to navigate these peaks as they relate to your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.

Longevity Acupuncture & Apothecary supports your health care goals with a focus on acupuncture in combination with other tools including Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional counseling, Chinese massage, and essential oils as well as collaborating with other healthcare professionals. For those considering medication or surgery, acupuncture can be a low-risk, effective alternative. The World Health Organization (WHO) has listed the following conditions that have been shown through controlled trial to be treated effectively by acupuncture including: depression, stroke, headache, knee pain, and nausea and vomiting among other conditions.

Mary Burke-Pitts
Licensed Acupuncturist & Herbalist

I received my Master’s Degree in Classical Chinese Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, North Carolina. I am nationally certified in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina.

I am passionate about health care, gardening, and beekeeping. I have successfully used acupuncture and qi gong exercise to support my own health, and have since been dedicated to the practice of Chinese medicine.

My goal as a clinician is to support your health in longevity practices that promote your body’s own healing capacity. My specialities include mental and emotional wellness as well as acute and chronic pain. The focus is to make vital changes and clear out old thoughts and habits that may cause disease.
